I work for a major Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) vendor. We make all sorts of cool products that help businesses manage their devices, applications, email, and security.
One aspect of that business is working closely with Apple and Google on EMM with the mobile platforms. In conversations with people inside and outside the industry, it has become clear that the technical mechanisms by which a device is "managed" in iOS and Android is not at all clear to many people in the industry.
The goal of this blog is to explore how these technologies work underneath. Over time I may branch off occasionally into peripherally related topics such as encryption, but the goal is to cover how an EMM vendor, Apple/Google, and your phone interact in the EMM world.
